In 1838 the Cherokee were forced to move from Georgia to Oklahoma, a trip of over 1000 miles. Of 15,000, 4000 men, women, and children died of hunger, disease, exhaustion, or being shot.
One of the government's "Final Solutions" to the 'Indian problem'.
It became known as "The Trail of Tears"
